Ireland played Spain this morning in the 2nd game of the pool in Liverpool and registered another great team performance winning 3-2. Scott Evans was up first and played superbly in his singles against Pablo Albian only barely losing 19 in the third. Chloe Magee then went on and fought hard to win her singles 23 - 21 in the third. One all and all to play for.Scott and Sam Magee then came out to win comfortably in two sets in the Men's Doubles and although Sinead Chambers and Dona Scott gave a fantastic performance, they lost in the third set. Two all and now a battle royal. Sam Magee and Chloe Magee then took to the court for the decider match. Ireland lost the 1st set, but in true fighting spirit won the 2nd and nerves were building as they led 11 - 9 at the interval in the third. The team all rallied round, and they won the third 22 -20. What a performance by this young Irish Team. Well done to all the players and to Jim Laugesen (Coach),Daniel Magee (Big Brother Coach) and Leslie Dewart (calming influence). Roll on Denmark; match takes place at 6.00pm this evening (Thursday) Follow their progress on http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/tournament.aspx?id=25612 Men Coaches |
